Welcome Beach Buddies 2014-2015!

It has been a wonderful three days getting to know every one of you!  Due to Ms. Bennett being sick the last few weeks, the blog is not quite updated.  However, there is a three day weekend coming up and I am planning to recover, update the class schedule, post pictures from the week, and send out some reminders!  I hope everyone has an amazing Thursday and Friday!

A little of what we have done this week:
We have practiced unpacking and packing our backpacks.  Every morning your child will put his/her lunchbox in the basket, put their water bottle next to the door, put their folder in their slot, and backpack in their cubbie.  Please talk through this procedure at home :)
We read Pete the Cat and took a tour of our brand new school.
We have read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and talked a lot about our name.  We put our decorated letter on the class coconut tree, created our own coconut tree, saw and tasted a real coconut, and even graphed if we thought coconut was yummy or yucky.
We have been getting to know our friends!  We have played a lot of team building games to get to know one another.
We got our crayon box with crayons on Tuesday, scissors on Wednesday, and will get our glue on Thursday! (please ask your child the rules of the tools on Friday :))
We also read about the Monster who went to school.  The monster put his head out the window on the bus, threw things in the classroom, and yelled and screamed at the children in his class. The monster was told he could not come back to school!  The monster cried and told the teacher he was sorry, but he had never been in school before.  The class taught the monster the rules of school and said he could come back aslong as he followed all the school rules, and the monster did!  We created our own class monster to remind us that we do not want to be a class monster, and we will learn and follow the rules of school! (Ask your student what they added to the monster)

I hope everyone is loving our brand new school!  I know I am. Here is me and my own Reed Roadrunner!

Have a great rest of the week Beach Buddies!!
-Bennett
