Physical Properties
Our Beach Buddies had fun describing properties of objects using the Round Robin Kagan structure. One student picked a object and they passed the object around while each student gave one property of the object. A fun activity you can do at home.
We included: size, color, shape, texture, etc.

People in Our Community
Community Helpers
Our Beach Buddies had a great time learning about all the different jobs in the community. They learned about different community helpers, why we need jobs, the tools different community helpers use, and used this information to figure out what job they might want to have one day.
We had a librarian, a chiropractor, two K-9 officers, an author, and a nurse come to present to the kindergartners. They explained their job, what type of education they needed to do their job, the tools they use, and answered any questions our kindergartners had.
It was fun seeing our students keep changing their minds on what they wanted to be when they grow up. They can be anything!
After studying different community helpers this is what our Beach Buddies decided they wanted to be:
Veterinarians
Police Officers
A Grocer
Doctors
A Mechanic
A Construction Worker
Firefighters
A Paleontologist
And A Teacher
I can't wait to see what career choices these students choose one day.

Is it a want or a need?
Wants and Needs
Needs are things we have to have to survive and everything else is a want. See if your Beach Buddy can list off the needs and some wants to you.

Carving with Dads
Messy Fun
We had a great turnout at our pumpkin carving event. Thank you to everyone who came to help and to all the families that donated extra pumpkins. We had enough for every student to take one home. Our Beach Buddies will not forget this day!

Fire Safety Program
STOP DROP ROLL
The Beach Buddies enjoyed learning about fire safety from the Cedar Park fire department. See if your student can tell you anything about what a smoke alarm is for, how to dial 9-1-1, what an EDITH is, how to Stop Drop and Roll, and anything about water safety.

Aa, Bb, Cc
Practice, Practice, Practice,
Our goal is for all students to be able to identify their uppercase and lowercase letters and to know the corresponding sounds by the end of October. Keep up the hard work at home! We want to make sure every student is on the path to have a successful kindergarten year in reading!

Lots of Leaves
Parts of a Plant:
In our plant unit we learned all about the parts of a plant. We learned what each plant part does, and that plants have many different physical characteristics. When we learned about leaves we started off by going on a leaf hunt. We noticed that all leaves on the same plant/ tree, have the same shape and color. After our leaf hunt we took a closer look with our magnify glasses and sorted our leaves by their physical characteristics. Last, we decided what type of leaf our plant would have, and added leaves to our paper plant.
